IMPORTANT NOTE- This hack was perfectly simple and effective for downloading complete Photobucket albums, until sometime ago when Photobucket noticed it and took steps to make it unusable, also taking the liberty of deleting one of our pictures. But, luckily for you, we have found another hack for doing the same. Currently it works only on Linux and Mac systems, however we expect to make it work for Windows users as well. To stay updated about the new hack, keep checking this space- New Hack For Downloading Photobucket Albums.
So here was my problem- I needed to backup all of my 111 odd pics from my photobucket album. However, a little birdie at the Photobucket Forums told me that only Pro users could do something like this using something called a "Batch Download". However, another avid user helped me out to prove otherwise.
Here's how you proceed-
Firstly, this method works only for Mozilla Firefox. You can download it here- Mozilla Firefox Download.
Next, you'll need to install this extension for Firefox named "Down Them All"- Down Them All. This extension allows you to download all the images or links present on a webpage.
When both the browser and the extension has been installed, open Photobucket and sign in to your account. In your album, click on "view all".

Then, scroll down to the bottom of the page, check the "select all" option and click on "Generate HTML or IMG Code".

Once this is done, click on the very first "Preview" button in the webpage.

In the pop-up screen, right click and select "Down Them All".

From here, it's rather simple. you just have to select the pics you want to download and choose the destination folder. Voila!

I didn't mean to encourage homosexuality. I am sorry if I did. I was just joking on my blog but I am afraid I gave some people the wrong message.
I downloaded this extension but I could only get it to download the thumbnails & not the full-size photos. First time using the extention, maybe I did it wrong somehow?
are you sure you followed ALL the steps EXACTLY as I instructed?
The problem the anonymous user is having is due to the fact the first preview gives you only 160X121 previews.
In actuality, the second preview button is the one that needs to get clicked in order to get the actual images.
Good tutorial... However, what if I wanted to download someone else's album? How can I do that easily?
Ahh!
Amazing tutorial! This was just something that I was looking for, since, I have around 3,200 photo's backed up on Photobucket.
Great job :]
amazing tutorial. thanks a lot :D
Hi SneezyMelon... do you know a way to do the same but with public Photobucket albums that aren't mine?
THANK YOUUUU! YOU ARE THE BEST.
dude, fantastic. i was deciding whether or not to power up my other comp to get the pics off of them... but geeky laziness took over me.
and now i learned a new trick!
a+.
How do you download a public album that is not yours.
hi, i can't get any preview button to appear after i generate the html codes, am i doing something wrong?
I think Photobucket caught on to the trick. First of all, I cannot see one of the demo photos (the most critical one) since Photobucket has removed it. Second, same as the poster above me, there is no PREVIEW button. They've removed it. Damn it!
I figured out a hard way to do what I wanted. I needed to download an album of about 120 images, consecutively named DSC0001.jpg and so on. I clicked on the very first picture in the series and found its real URL. Then generated a text file of the 120 URLS with for each consecutive image. Using the program "Sitesucker" for mac you can give it a text file of URLs for it to go and download.
This is what finally worked.
I want to download my pics a folder at a time, but when I get to the html codes, I can't seem to find a "preview button" anyway.
Where is the button located?
Because Photobucket doesn't have the preview buttons anymore, what you can do is copy the text from the first box, then open Notepad. Paste the text into that and save it as pictures.html
Make sure you have it saved as that cos it'll make it into a web page in itself. Open that file up and click the down them all button and it should get all the full size pics!
thanks a million James, your method worked like a charm, now i can pull them as a whole and upload to somewhere else!
No problem mate :)
I've written a short step by step how to
http://vytautas.jakutis.lt/node/697 to solve this task
Thank you SO much, James! The Notepad method worked. ♥ Before I stumbled across your blog, I was seriously going to Full View and Save File every single one of my pictures (5,000+! D;). Well, you just saved me countless hours of my time! I can't thank you enough!! :D
Me too. James' notepad method worked and helped me to not wasting my time just to backup my album. Now I can delete my photobucket account. Thanks to James! :)
Works with Windows<3
Wow, thanks a lot to both james and sneezy. Worked like a charm. Wish I knew about this a while ago! :D
Thanks again.

I need a little help with what James Murphy said. I dont understand the "copy the text from the first box", what text?
Thanks
Hey, I tried this and when I click down them all in textedit (i don't have notepad, but I thought textedit was practically the same), it says "no pictures or links found!" What's up?
Thanks for the info!
Thank you very much for all of your information :)
Thank you SOOO much for this!! :)
Thanks from Germany...
You saved my day :-)
did i done it wrongly or it works this way?
i download it all but it gave me a html file once i downloaded all.
i dont want a html file!! i want a jpeg
Instead of clicking preview just scroll down the the "URL's for email, Yahoo messenger, AOL messenger, etc" section after the selecting "Generate HTML or IMG Code"
highlight all of the URLs right-click and then choose download them all. This will only pull the full pictures as each link is the full image URL :)
that's the only step I see that needs changing! great walkthrough, I've been trying to do this for awhile now.
WOW, thank you so much for this.
very helpful, saved me buckets of time!!
I just downloaded this plugin and tried to use it for photobucket...
but there's no preview button! T_T
So....i created an .html file and opened it in mozilla...and all my pictures are tiny...i was hoping they'd be the original size =/ how can i simply get the original sized pictures?
nevermind :D
got ittt
because there no longer seems to be any preview buttons (PB probably got rid of them because of this....lol) what you need to do now is...
After clicking "Generate HTML or IMG Code"
Copy the second text box. Copy the code under "HTML images for Ebay, Livejournal, Myspace, etc."
Paste it into a blank HTML document (download either HTML-Kit or Aptana Studios...or go to www.w3schools.com to learn how) and then open it in firefox...
AWESOME!
full sized pictures ready to be downloaded! :D
you can do it this way still if you are a member of a forum that you can post pictures on, you just have to do them like 10 at a time.
this was extremely helpful -thank you
i cannot find the preview option after the generate html im code. also how do i view all the albums?
The two that seem to work best are FireShadowSpiker's and downloading from the RSS feed.
To download from the RSS feed, in Firefox, click on the orange feed button while viewing all pictures. In the resulting screen, use DownThemAll to get all the pictures.
Thank you for posting this very helpful article! Now Ihave backups of all my fav pics from Photobucket!
You rock!
I've got an easier way. You still need the downthemall firefox extension but instead of followign the above steps you just click on view albums feed. Once that's loaded up click on downthemall and your done :)
Thanks so much, watch in the RSS feed and it totally works =)
OH! i just learned a more easier way... NO NEED FOR DOWN THE ALL! ;p
just click the album you want to download and under the URL at the left... There is a download button. just click it and there... YOU're done
...
photobucket is recently upgraded itself. They put the download button probably because it is more sufficient having it than going through every single photo and downloading them one by one...
I just love photobucket for doing that... x)
rach~
I download video from photobucket.com by means of service takeyoutube.com
Does any one know if deleting the original matter if you saved it? Help ASAP
I want to delete my photo bucket account, I followed the way to download the albums here. But does deleting my photo bucket effect me from viewing my pictures in the future. Is the save imaged like just a link to see them elsewhere? Please help before I make a mistake!
